This time the severe winter in Aligarh has destroyed all the previous records. According to meteorologist Dr. Ashraf Ali, temperature is being recorded continuously in Aligarh in January since 1944. Till now, only six times in January the maximum temperature has been recorded below 9.8 degrees Celsius. This time for the seventh time the maximum temperature has been recorded at 9.5 degrees Celsius.

The maximum temperature on January 25 was 13.2 degrees Celsius, which was six degrees below normal. The minimum temperature was recorded at 8.2 degrees. Traffic remained affected due to fog. People were seen warming themselves by bonfires to escape the cold. Dr. Ashraf Ali said that it will remain partly cloudy with fog till January 29.

Trains arrived hours late

Railways canceled Lichchavi Express, Unchahar Express in view of fog. Mahabodhi Express arrived late by 19 hours, Kaifiyat Express by 14 hours, Seemanchal by 13 hours, Magadh Express by eight hours, Kalka Express by seven hours, Nandan Kanan by five hours, Swatantrata Senani Express, Gomti Express and Purva Express by four hours each.
